Franklin’s Got Talent is a multi-art form competition open to all ages 10 years and over.

Any form of entertainment which can be performed on a stage is eligible to enter eg singing, dancing, magic, comedy, animal acts, contortionists, impersonations, special effects – anything where an entertainment value exists!

You can be an individual act, a small group, or a larger group – entry is open to everyone with talent.

STEP 1: Make sure that you have read and understand the Competition Rules & Guidelines (below)

Competition Rules & Guidelines:

Franklin’s Got Talent (FGT) is organised by The Buckland Community Centre Inc (Organisers).
Any decisions made by the organisers are deemed final.

Entries & Selection Process:

  • To enter use the ENTRY FORM LINK  TOGETHER WITH STEPS 1-6 on this webpage
  • Entries and steps 1 to 6 MUST BE completed by 22nd May.
  • Entrants from any location (including outside Franklin) are welcomed.
  • FGT is open to all ages 10 years and over.
  • There is an entry fee, payable online, to cover administration. The cost is $20 for an individual entry. For Groups the cost is $20 plus $5 for each additional person (eg 2 people $25).
  • Auditions are via video (MP4) submitted online. Videos can be up to 4 minutes in total length. The act component must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3.5 minutes. The additional time may be used to communicate other information to the judges. If anyone is not able to record their own video please contact us and we can arrange to film at a very minimal cost.
  • Acts must be able to fit onto the Buckland Hall stage area (please check the stage floorplan)
  • Acts must not have or create any health or safety issues
  • Acts must be primarily of an amateur status
  • The organisers’ technical team will assess the entries to ensure that space, props, lighting and sound are all feasible and are acceptable from a health & safety perspective. Finalists will be contacted discuss any specific requirements
  • The organisers’ decision is final in relation to accepting or rejecting any entry that does not comply with the competition guidelines.
  • Acts will be judged against every other talent by a team of experienced judges and a shortlist of a maximum of 20 acts to feature in the Showcase Finale will be selected.
  • It is a condition of entry that the acts selected as finalists all agree to attend the dress rehearsal & finale and be prepared to remain at Buckland Hall until the end of the Showcase Finale.
  • The Showcase Finalists, plus the unsuccessful entrants will be notified by email on 30th May at the latest.
  • The Showcase Finalists will be asked for an image (eg head and shoulders) and brief bio to use in the Showcase Finale Programme.

Judges & MC:

The panel of experienced judges will be Tim Roxborogh (Music Critic, Radio Host & Travel Writer) and Andre Vegas (Experienced Entertainer, Magician & Illusionist) and Lisa Laurell (Experienced Singer & Musical Theatre Performer & Producer). Our MC will be well known and loved, multi-award winning, NZ Comedienne Michèle A’Court.

Franklin’s Got Talent Showcase Finale:

  • There will be a full dress rehearsal on Friday 19th June from 5.30 to 10.00 pm. All finalists are required to attend in the running order of the show. Actual attendance time will be confirmed once the Running Order has been finalised.
  • The FGT Showcase Finale will take place in front of a live audience at Buckland Hall on Saturday 20th June at 7.00 pm. Finalists must arrive and be ready to perform by 6.00 pm.
  • At the FGT Showcase Finale the judges and the MC will determine the final placings. The judges will take into consideration the audience’s enjoyment of each as it is performed.
  • The placings and prize giving will take place at the end of the show.

Cancellation:

In the unlikely event that FGT is cancelled for whatever reason, all administration entry fees will be refunded.
