Who is this for?

Ready to turn fabric into fashion?

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the basics of creating your very first handmade garment from start to finish.

You will be guided through following a commercial sewing pattern making a pair of trousers.

Designed to build confidence, you will need to know the basics of your machine and be able to sew straight and curved lines.

Walk away with new skills and something you have made yourself!

What to bring:

All you need to bring is:

  • Sewing machine (and extension lead)
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Simplicity S8841 sewing pattern (this can be purchased from retailers such as Spotlight, The Ribbon Rose, Postie Fashions or Fab Fabrics, or other pattern retailers, either in person or online)
  • Fabric appropriate to the pattern (refer to pattern guide for the best fabrics for this project) and other items required on the pattern eg elastic
  • Matching thread
  • Scissors, tape measure, pins & fabric marker

Please note that when choosing your size, please bear in mind that ready-to wear clothing is generally two sizes smaller than commercial pattern sizing. Therefore, use the body measurements on the top flap of the pattern envelope to determine your size. Please note that this is a multi-size pattern.
